Not sure what you need? Just describe it.

Tell it what keeps tripping, what you want added, or what the property is. It works out the job and prices it from the same rate card as the calculator below.

What will the electrics cost?

A whole-property rewire by floor area and specification, or the individual jobs you actually need. Every figure comes from one rate card, with its source beside it.

Basic is a sound, compliant installation with standard white accessories. Luxury adds chased runs and branded accessories throughout. Super Luxury and Ultimate are designer ranges and extensive lighting circuits, and come out as a range because the specification decides the number.

Describe the job.
We'll work it out.

A photo of the fuse board, a plan of the flat, or just a sentence. It asks what it needs, then prices the answer from the same rates as the calculator — not from a guess.

Tell me about the job — a rewire, some extra sockets, a board that keeps tripping, an EV charger — and roughly what the property is.

Attach a photo of the board or the room and it will say what the work involves. Files are passed straight to the assistant and never stored. Answers come from this site's own rate card. Where we do not publish a rate — EV charger circuits, AC points, certificates — it will say so rather than guess.

Everything electrical.
One contractor.

From a single socket to a full rewire and the Enemalta certificate at the end — delivered by REWS-authorised electricians from the CheckYourTraders-verified network, managed and guaranteed by us.

Emergency call-out

Sparks, smoke or no power?
Send this now.

A board that trips and will not reset, a burning smell from a socket, a flooded installation, a complete loss of power that is not Enemalta. Fill this in and it reaches us marked as an emergency, day or night. Someone rings you back as soon as it lands.

While you wait

  • Switch off at the main breaker if you smell burning
  • Do not touch a wet socket or appliance
  • If anyone has had a shock or there is fire, ring 112 first

The emergency band on this site is published so you know what the visit costs before you send this.

Emergency call-out

Marked as an emergency the moment it arrives. This is a request for a call-back, not a confirmed attendance. If anyone is in danger, ring 112.

How Electrician.mt works

Most electrical jobs in Malta run on a phone number and a promise. We replace that with a contractor: a site visit, an itemised quote, an authorised electrician who turns up when they said they would, and a completion certificate you can hand to Enemalta or the next owner. You deal with us; we deal with the trade.

01
📐
Site visit
An electrician looks at the board, the runs and the loads, and writes down what the job actually is — free, no obligation.
02
📊
Itemised quote
A fixed price, line by line, against the same rate card the calculator uses. Nothing hidden in a lump sum.

Nothing starts until you have read the scope and said yes. Changes on site are priced before they are done.

Authorised delivery
The work is done by a REWS-authorised, CheckYourTraders-verified electrician to BS 7671 and Malta's Electrical Installations Regulations.
05
📄
Certificate & handover
Every new installation or alteration is tested and certified on the REWS form, with the schematic Enemalta and your insurer expect.

Authorised. Verified.
Both, every time.

In Malta, installing, altering, extending or certifying an electrical installation is restricted by law to electricians authorised by the Regulator for Energy and Water Services under the Electrical Installations Regulations (S.L. 545.24). Authorisation A covers single-phase; Authorisation B covers three-phase up to 300 A per phase. Every electrician on a job of ours holds one, and the number is on the certificate you receive.

Authorisation says someone may do the work. CheckYourTraders verification says they do it properly — identity, insurance and track record checked, reviews from real customers, and a right of reply. Every electrician we use has both.

Need more than electrical work?

Electrician.mt is one of the CheckYourTraders trade sites. The same verified network, the same rate-card discipline, the same contractor model — for the other trades a property needs.

We are actively looking for
the best electricians in Malta.

Electrician.mt delivers jobs as the contractor, and every electrician on one comes from the CheckYourTraders-verified network. We want the ones who hold a REWS authorisation, test what they install, hand over a certificate without being asked, and turn up when they said they would — in Malta and Gozo.

Tell us what you do and where you work. When a job comes up that fits, we will put you in front of it.

We read every one. Verification through CheckYourTraders comes first; nobody goes on a job of ours without it.

Frequently asked questions

Does my electrician need a licence in Malta?
Yes. Installing, altering, extending or certifying an electrical installation is restricted to electricians authorised by the Regulator for Energy and Water Services (REWS) under the Electrical Installations Regulations, S.L. 545.24. Authorisation A covers single-phase work; Authorisation B covers single- and three-phase up to 300 A per phase. A handyman may change a light fitting; they may not add a circuit or sign a certificate. Every electrician on a job of ours is authorised, and REWS publishes the list.
How much does a rewire cost in Malta?
Our calculator prices a whole-property rewire by internal floor area and specification: first fix from €26 per m² and second fix from €24 per m² at the Basic specification, so a 100 m² apartment comes out at €5,000 before any board or certificate. Published Maltese guides put a full rewire at roughly €2,000 to €6,000 or more depending on the property, which is the same range. A villa carries a 15% uplift for the longer runs.
What do the individual jobs cost?
The calculator carries the bands published in Maltese price guides: a new double socket €50 to €120, a lighting point €30 to €80, a consumer unit upgrade €300 to €800, fault finding €60 to €150, a standard call-out €20 to €60 and emergency work €50 to €100 an hour. The low end is a straightforward job with clear access; the high end is the same job with the complications a site visit finds.
Why does my RCD keep tripping?
The 30 mA RCD every Maltese installation must have will trip on any earth leakage above that figure. Common causes here are an ageing water-heater element, a damp outdoor socket, an appliance with a leaking filter, and inverter air-conditioning or appliances on an older Type AC RCD, which the 2024 amendments to the regulations address by requiring an appropriate RCD type. Fault finding is a priced job on this site; never bypass an RCD.
What does Enemalta need from the electrician for a new meter?
ARMS Form A, the application for a new electricity service, carries a technical certification section that only an authorised electrician (or a warranted electrical engineer above 300 A) may sign: the switchgear fitted, the earthing arrangement, and a declaration that the installation has been inspected and tested under S.L. 545.41 and S.L. 545.24. A copy of their authorisation goes in with the form. The connection fee is €300 for a single-phase service, €600 for three-phase 40 A and €900 for three-phase 60 A.
Can you install an EV charger at home?
Yes. A home charger needs a dedicated circuit on an RCD of the right type (Type A with DC detection, or Type B), and if you want the off-peak EV tariff, a separate Enemalta EV meter beside the main one — €50 single-phase, €80 three-phase. We do not publish a price for the circuit because it depends on the run and the supply; the calculator lists the hardware and meter costs and the rest is quoted on site. There is no home-charger grant in 2026.
Single-phase or three-phase?
A Maltese home is normally supplied single-phase at 40 A. Multi-split air conditioning, pool pumps, an EV charger or any motor over about 1.5 kW can push a property towards three-phase, which the regulations require for larger motor loads. A three-phase service costs €600 (40 A) or €900 (60 A) to connect, carries a higher annual charge, and can only be certified by an Authorisation B electrician. The site visit tells you which you need.
Do you cover Gozo?
Yes. Electricians local to Gozo from the same verified network, so nobody is paying for a ferry to change a socket.
Is the calculator a quote?
No. It is an honest figure from a published rate card so you know what you are walking into. A free site visit turns it into a fixed, itemised quote, and nothing starts until you have approved that.
How do I get started?
Book a free site visit. An electrician looks at the board and the runs, we send an itemised quote, and if you go ahead the work is scheduled with one point of contact from the first visit to the certificate.
